THE THREE AAC ANNUAL ART EXHIBITS:

Every May, October and December, the Atlanta Artist Center has special exhibits at the Buckhead Library.  All are multi-artist exhibits and artists must be a current AAC member to participate. May is for all types of arts - photography, sculpture, jewelry, collage, etc.  The deadline to enter this Exhibit was  April 1, 2010 and there is more information below .October is for Photography and is part of Atlanta Celebrates Photography (ACP).  Even though the photography exhibit is not until October, artists wanting their name in the ACP booklet  need to get their name and a check for $10.00 made out to "AAC", to Cheryl D'Amato by June 15, 2010.  This date is later from previously stated due to changes in the ACP guidelines.  December is the Plein Air Painters Exhibit.  These exhibits are not juried and the deadline to enter each of these three AAC exhibits is one month before the exhibits are installed. All sales for these three exhibits go through the AAC.

INDIVIDUAL AND GROUP ART EXHIBITS:

January, February, March, April, June, July, August, September and November are available to any artist or artist group to exhibit at the Buckhead Library.  Artists do not have to be AAC members to enjoy this opportunity.  The AAC Library Committee and volunteers will help install and uninstall exhibits if the artist desires their assistance.  Otherwise, the exhibit, the reception, the posters, advertisements and anything else needed for the exhibit are the responsibility of the artist.  All these things are great experience for when artists have gallery exhibits.  Gallery owners love to have assistance from the artists on everything that's required for the library.  All sales go through the artist who retains 100% of the price.  The only limitation on any exhibit at the library is that all work must be acceptable for children's viewing, i.e. no realistic nudes or distressing themes.  There are a few display areas that will hold works sized to 40" x 40".  This year, 2010, is currently booked. As each month of 2010 concludes, we'll book another month into 2011.  To make the waiting list shorter, we will be sending an e-mail to all artists on the waiting list asking them if they would like to exhibit with another artist on the list for a joint exhibit rather than a solo exhibit.  Solo exhibits may still be done. Now that we have increased the hanging space to 50 pieces rather than 40, it makes more sense to join forces when possible.  It's still a good idea to get on the waiting list as cancellations do occur.  Please contact Cheryl to be put on the list.  We will soon have the Buckhead Library "How-to" sheets available on the AAC website.

MONTHLY LIBRARY SCHEDULE

July 7/2/2010 -  7/29/2010 - "Face a Face" presented by the AKA Photo Project and Opal Gallery
Opening Reception: Saturday 7/3/2010, 3-5:00 PM, Concert by the "Wild Frogs"
This is a group photography exhibit by the following artists:  Etienne Abobi, Michel Besson, Arnaud Hugonie, Quentin Isackson, Trish Nicolas, Claude Wegscheider and Katherine Wickhorst.
The Opal Gallery and AKA Photo Project, a new initiative to showcase talented amateur photographers, announce the exhibit Face à Face at the Buckhead Library. Curated by Etienne Abobi, founder and managing director of AKA Photo Project, Face à Face will unveil thirty-three images that provide perspectives of places and faces in and around Atlanta through the eyes - and lens - of the French.
AKA Photo Project promotes emerging and amateur photographers, with a twist: The "AKA" implies that these photographers are "accidental artists," people who are not artists by profession, but who pursue photography as a passion... and happen to be quite good at it.   This exhibit is curated by Etienne Abobi.  Face a Face is supported by Opal Gallery and Artifacts, Inc.
